MUMBAI: A three-year-old girl who went missing from Bandra (E) on March 30 was rescued after 12 days with the arrest of two women from Cuffe Parade. Fatima Shaikh was tracked down from Cuffe Parade early on Friday. After medical examination, Nirmal Nagar police handed her over to the Child Welfare Committee and informed her mother Shehnaz (40). Her mother lodged a complaint on April 1, when she went missing on March 30, after she stepped out of her Bandra house to play.

Police scanned footage from at least 200 CCTV cameras before tracking down Meera Kale

(25), who was captured on CCTV at Churchgate station. She took her to sister-in-law Mina Chavan’s house in Cuffe Parade.

DCP (zone VIII) Anil Kumbhare supervised a team that included ACP Dinesh Joshi and Nirmal Nagar police senior inspector Subhash Jadhav. Kale claimed she handed the toddler to her as she was childless, said Joshi.
