Delhi man shot, two bystanders injured

NEW DELHI: A 55-year-old man was shot dead and two women were injured when a gunmen opened fire at a crowded market in northeast Delhi’s Seelampur on Friday night. Prima facie personal enmity was the reason behind the attack. The women suffered injuries on their legs from the ricocheted bullets.
Witnesses said that gunmen opened fire at the victim, Nafees, when he was returning from a mosque near J-block at 9pm. The assailants fired at him multiple times till he succumbed. They then threatened the onlookers and fled. The women, Anita and Bhagwati, who were returning home with groceries suffered injuries on their right legs during the firing. They were taken to a hospital by the local residents. They would undergo surgeries to get the bullets removed.
DCP (north-east) Atul Thakur said that a murder case has been registered. It was found that the Nafees’s son Sonu was lodged in jail over a murder case. Cops suspect his rivals were involved in the firing.
Late on Friday, two people were arrested in the case.
