Ludh jail inmate strangulated to death: Autopsy
Ludhiana: Livtar Singh who died in Ludhiana Central Jail late on Wednesday night, was strangulated to death, the autopsy report confirmed.
Following this a three-member SIT has been formed by the jail officials to investigate the case on Friday. The SIT, which has been formed by the jail superintendent, includes two DSP rank officials and one assistant superintendent. The team will submit a report on the murder of the inmate in a week.

The deceased’s family members too are now allegeing that Livtar was murdered by his jail inmates.

Livtar’s mother, Satvinder Kaur, stated that around 10 days ago some jail inmates assaulted her son and they are ones who murdered him.

Livtar, who was lodged in Ludhiana Central Jail from the past one year for snatchings, was found dead in the bathroom of barrack number 1, with the drawstring of his trousers tied around his neck.

Jail superintendent Shamsher Singh Boparai said the autopsy report has ascertained that Livtar was strangulated to death. On being asked that bathrooms have been the most vulnerable spots in the jail, Boparai said, “I agree with this. The walls of bathrooms are seven feet high due to which proper surveillance cannot be done. In the other barracks, I have got the walls cut down to four feet. This will be done for barrack number 1 now so that the security personnel can maintain vigil there as well.

Meanwhile, magisterial enquiry has already been marked in this case.
