A mini marathon was held to promote cent per cent voting on Saturday.
Collector and District Election Officer Sandeep Nanduri, who flagged it off, participated in the run. Superintendent of Police Murali Rambha, Sub-Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon, Assistant Collector (Training) S. Anu, Deputy Director of Health Services, Geetharani, and other officials participated.
Around 250 persons participated in the mini marathon, which started from Muthu Nagar beach and ended at Millerpuram bus stop.
Later, training for polling personnel took place across the district on Saturday. General Observer for Vilathikulam Assembly bypolls K. Madhavi Latha inspected the training, in the presence of the District Election Officer.
Mr. Nanduri told the officials that at least 50 mock votes should be cast on the machine an hour before polling and subsequently deleted. Further, if there are faulty VVPAT machines, they should be replaced.
He said space should be allocated for agents of candidates and required arrangement should be made for differently-abled voters. Steps should be taken to ensure that nothing goes wrong during the polling, he added.
Meanwhile, government officials cast their votes through ballot votes across the district.

Government officials, teachers and the police queued up at the St. John's Higher Secondary School in Palayamkottai, Francis Xavier College in Vannarpettai and other places across the district to cast their postal votes.
Collector and Returning Officer for Tirunelveli constituency, Shilpa Prabhakar Satish, and Returning Officer for Tenkasi constituency, B. Muthuramalingam, and Police Commissioner N. Bhaskaran inspected the postal ballot voting.
