IMA urges EC to ensure tobacco-free elections

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has requested the Election Commission of India to ban the usage of both smoking and chewable tobacco, which includes bidi, cigarette, gutkha and flavoured chewable tobacco on the premises of polling booths.

The IMA has also demanded that polling booths should have banners warning the same. The association also wants the support of the State and district tobacco control cells to supervise this initiative.
