NEW DELHI: A man was allegedly beaten to death by a group of guards and labourers after he entered a farmhouse at Ghoga village near Narela Industrial Area on Thursday night.
The guards claimed to have caught him trying to sneak into a room. The man was tied up and thrashed till he fell unconscious. Cops identified the guards from CCTV footage and caught them later. The deceased man is yet to be identified.

DCP (outer, north) Gaurav Sharma said that police were informed about a thief being caught inside the farmhouse. When cops reached the spot, they found the man locked in a room. He was in a semi-conscious state and was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

During preliminary probe, cops recovered CCTV footage from the farmhouse, in which the man was seen roaming on the premises after which the guards caught him. He was tied to a pole and thrashed by at least four people for nearly half-an-hour, after which he fell unconscious.

Three guards and a juvenile were detained on the basis of the footage. Probe revealed that the man was a rag picker and a drug addict. He entered the premises after finding the gate open and was picking scarps when the guards caught him.

Cops are trying to identify the victim and questioning other rag pickers in the area. The body was sent for an autopsy on Thursday night. The guards claimed that the man was caught earlier too trying to sneak into the premises. A case of culpable homicide was registered against the accused.
