Top Gear Gets Up Close And Personal With The Pininfarina Battista

The Pininfarina Battista was one of the highlights in this year’s Geneva Motor Show, and Top Gear’s Rory Reid recently had the opportunity to take a closer look at the all-electric hypercar.

The most remarkable thing about the Battista is its powertrain. Sourced from Rimac, which means it is essentially the same as what you’ll find beneath the skin of the C_Two, it consists of four electric motors and a T-shaped, 120 kWh lithium-ion battery pack mounted within the center tunnel and behind the seats.

All up, it pumps out an extraordinary 1874 hp and 1696 lb-ft (2300 Nm) of torque, which results in some rather incredible performance figures.

According to Pininfarina, the Battista will hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 2 seconds and accelerates to 300 km/h (186 mph) in under 12 seconds, or a second faster than the McLaren Speedtail! The company quotes a 217 mph (350 km/h) top speed, but we suspect that’s very conservative, especially when you consider the C_Two will allegedly hit 258 mph (415 km/h).

At the same time, the driving range on a single charge is more than 280 miles (450 km) – which is not bad when you consider how much performance the car has.

The Pininfarina Battista, though, is not a vehicle dominated solely by performance; it is also absolutely jaw-dropping to look at. Prices start at around $2.5 million and production will be capped at 150 units worldwide.
