GURUGRAM: In a bid to avoid paying toll, a few miscreants hit and carried a toll employee on an Innova car's bonnet for three kilometers. They took him to a secluded place where they thrashed and threatened to kill him if he filed police complaint against them. They dumped him before fleeing from the spot.
The victim employee somehow returned and filed a police complaint. An FIR has been registered at Kherki Daula police station. Police said that the owner of the car has been identified and the accused will be arrested soon.
The shocking incident came to fore at 12:50pm on Saturday when an Innova car did not stop to pay toll at lane number 26 of Kherki Daula toll plaza. According to complaint filed by toll employee Arun Kumar (25), native of Muzaffarnagar in UP, the car with registration number HR 55 S 3827 came in the lane number 26 but rather than paying toll hit barrier and tried to flee.
The driver did not stop the car and instead tried to hit the attendant. "I clung onto the bonnet in order to save myself. The driver though did not stop and kept driving for around three kilometers towards Manesar even as I clung on to the bonnet. Finally he stopped and thrashed me and threatened me not to collect toll from him before fleeting away," said Arun in his complaint.
Though toll operator claimed that they tried to chase the car, it soon disappeared. They had informed the police. Meanwhile the victim called manager after which the police also reached the spot where he was dumped by the accused. The car has been traced to Suchit of Hari Nagar, Gurugram and the victim according to sources confirmed that it was he who was driving the car and there was another man with him as well.
The incident has yet again highlighted the lawlessness at toll plaza. According to onlookers it was not just accused who is at fault but the people who saw him struggling on bonnet but did not call police are also to be blamed.
