Following the directives of the Election Commission, the discom’s management has ordered its engineers in charge of sub divisions to ensure uninterrupted power supply on polling day.
The DVVNL takes care of power supply in 21 districts of the state. In these districts, the Lok Sabha election are scheduled to take place in four phases. On April 18, elections are scheduled to place in Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Mathura and Aligarh constituencies.
The discom officials have claimed that all required arrangements are being made to ensure uninterrupted power supply on election day. And now, they are preparing to deal with any disruption caused by bad weather.
Last year in April, high speed winds had caused major loses to power supply infrastructure. Electricity supply from over 100 sub stations, connecting over 1,200 villages of Agra region had remained affected for several days. Ahead of election, the discom is preparing to deal with any such situation.
DVVNL staff officer SK Baghel said, “Arrangements of securing around 2,000 electricity poles, cable rolls, transformers and other equipment have been made to quickly fix any fault in power supply during election. In this regard, special teams have also been constituted.”
