BJP candidate Pon. Radhakrishnan said that the Congress was spreading false propaganda about Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) on Saturday.
In a press release, Mr. Radhakrishnan said that the Congress candidate H. Vasanthakumar has been spreading false propaganda that if the NDA were to be voted back to power, the government would scrap the MGNREGS.
He said that the NDA government had increased the wages from ₹163 to ₹229. He said that a recommendation has been made to increase the number of days of employment to 150. A total of 99,952 persons in Kanniyakumari district have been given MGNREGS cards, he added.
