The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has maintained that its routine schedule for paper correction as well as result preparation pertaining to the HSSC and SSC examinations has been disturbed by the state office of the chief electoral officer.

The GBSHSE stated that it has come under a lot of stress as the state office of the CEO has requisitioned for many of the HSSC as well as SSC teachers for election-related duties.

A highly-placed official of the Goa Board told ‘The Navhind Times’ that due to the request from the state office of the CEO, the Goa Board postponed the basic cookery paper of the SSC examination scheduled on April 23 to April 25.

“And now we have to do it again, by postponing the bakery and confectionary paper of this examination scheduled on April 22 to April 26,” the official added, pointing out that even though there are comparatively less number of students answering these two papers, the Goa Board needs to reorganise the things due to these changes.

The Goa Board official said the state office of the CEO has asked the examiners as well as the chief moderators for the ongoing SSC examination to resume the election duty as presiding officers.

“Besides being on-and-off on this duty, the teachers are also posted at far-off places, making them unavailable to us at any part of the day,” the official observed, adding that the Goa Board has also been forced to call off the three-day assessment camp for SSC teachers, scheduled from April 22 to April 24.

“We are however lucky this year, as this time, around 60 to 70 teachers have responded for SSC paper correction as compared to 30-odd teachers previously,” he noted, mentioning that the HSSC teachers are less in number in contrast to the SSC teachers.

“As for the paper correction for the HSSC examination held last month,

we were expecting to finish this exercise by April 10, however the same still continues, and would require three to four more days,” the Goa Board official informed, adding that HSSC result could be declared by the end of April, or in the first week of May.

“Actually we are hoping to announce the HSSC result before April 30, which is the last day of the ongoing academic year,” the official maintained, pointing out that even though the Goa Board in the past declared the HSSC result before the Goa Common Entrance Test, there is no necessity to do so.

The GCET is scheduled to be held on May 8 and May 9, 2019.
