Scores of devotees descend on Bhadrachalam

Bhadrachalam, the abode of Lord Sitarama, started bustling with a myriad of spiritual activities even as scores of devotees descended on the temple town on Saturday, a day ahead of the celestial wedding of Lord Rama with Sita slated to be held in Bhadrachalam on Sunday.

The historic shrine has been brightly illuminated with decorative lights in connection with the mega spiritual fete.

Sector-wise seating arrangements have been made at Mithila Stadium, where Sri Tiru Kalyana Mahotsavam will be held on Sunday morning.

Model code

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is unlikely to attend the celestial wedding in Bhadrachalam on Sunday because of the Election Commission’s model code of conduct, still in force, official sources said. Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy is expected to present mutyala talambralu and pattu vastrams on behalf of the State Government to the divine couple at the celestial wedding in line with the tradition.

Official sources said that Governor ESL Narasimhan will attend the Pattabisheka Mahotsavam (Coronation ceremony of Lord Rama) to be held at the same venue on April 15 (Monday).

Meanwhile, Collector Rajat Kumar Saini reviewed the arrangements for the celestial wedding with the officials of the Revenue, Police, and other allied departments in Bhadrachalam on Saturday afternoon.

District Superintendent of Police Sunil Dutt, Bhadrachalam Sub-Collector Bhavesh Mishra, ITDA, Bhadrachalam, Project Officer, V P Gautham and others were present.
