Police arrested three persons for their involvement in bike lifting in city on Friday. About 12 stolen vehicles were recovered from them. Two including prime accused were on the run till Friday late night. Additional Superintendent of Police Shailendra Singh Chouhan said during vehicle checking, a team of MIG police station stopped two persons on a bike. They tried to flee leaving bike but they were arrested by the team.
The accused identified as Rohit alias Nana and Rohit Wilson, residents of Pardeshipura, told police that Gyani alias Amar Jat of Sarvahara Nagar is mastermind of gang. He was externed by district administration for his involvement in criminal activities a few months ago.
Accused Rohit would break lock of bikes in seconds and Mayank would help him in the crime. Rohit used to search vehicles parked near road side after which Mayank used to steal bike after breaking its lock. They used to give stolen bike to Gyani who used to sell stolen bikes in cheap prices with help of his accomplice Sanjay Kala alias Appi of Nanda Nagar. Rohit and Mayank took Rs 5,000 for each stolen bike from Gyani. After information from accused, police team later arrested Sanju Kala. About 12 two-wheelers were recovered from them. The accused admitted to commit bike theft to fulfill their needs of liquor.
