Gurgaon: A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his stepdaughter (10) in Manesar last month when his wife was away at work. He was produced in a court and sent to judicial custody on Friday.
According to the complaint lodged by the child’s mother, originally from UP, her first husband died some years ago, after which she remarried. She had two daughters from her previous marriage, and has two sons with the accused. The family lives in a rented accommodation in Manesar. The 10-year-old is the eldest child. Her parents work as helpers in a private company in Manesar.
On March 9, the accused stayed at home. After the mother left for work, he allegedly forced himself upon the child while her siblings were playing outside. “When I returned home, my daughter told me about it. Furious, I confronted him and tried informing police but he snatched away my phone. He thrashed me and fled. He stayed out for a month and returned on Thursday. As soon as I saw him, I called police,” the mother said.
Police reached the home and detained the accused. An FIR was registered under Section 323 (causing hurt) of IPC and Section 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of POCSO Act at Women’s police station, Manesar. “The girl was taken to the child welfare committee and recorded her statement under Section 164 of CrPC,” said police spokesperson Subhash Boken.
