Face penalty if flaws found in upkeep work, Ecogreen told
Gurgaon: The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has ordered Ecogreen Energy Ltd, the private company appointed for solid waste management in the city, to ensure 100% garbage collection in all wards or face penalty. The order was issued on Friday during a meeting of the citizen monitoring committee set up by the corporation to keep a tab on waste management in the city.

During the meeting, MCG commissioner Yashpal Yadav said in case of any complaint regarding garbage lying in the open, the company would be penalised as per rules. “Also, if any private firm is found dumping waste in the open, we will ensure that an FIR is registered against the offender,” he told corporation officials.

MCG has also put all outfits generating more than 50 kilograms of garbage per day in the category of bulk waste generators and mandated that they dispose of waste on their own. “The bulk waste generators have to treat and dispose of waste on their own. Penalties will be imposed if that is not done,” said Yadav. He directed officials to ensure provision of a common composting unit for bulk waste generators.

Additional municipal commissioner Y S Gupta said, “Under phase I of the model ward project, we have been conducting waste audits in four wards. By June 15, the process of making them model wards will be completed. Moreover, we are already working on management of hazardous waste and establishment of a unit for treatment of biochemical waste.”

Officials also discussed C&D and septic waste management, rainwater harvesting and ensuring water in city ponds during the meeting.
