Willian sends warning to Liverpool ahead of Anfield showdown with Chelsea

Liverpool are battling to win the Premier League.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are battling to secure a top-four finish.

Both sides face off in a showdown at Anfield on Sunday and Willian says his side are coming to Merseyside to win the match.

“Sunday will be a very, very big game, and a very exciting game,” he said.

“We are ready to play this game and we are excited.

“We have targets in the Premier League and in the Europa League. Our target in the Premier League is to stay in the top four, so we have to go there on Sunday and try to win the game.”

Liverpool have not lost at Anfield in the Premier League for 37 matches, a run which stretches back to April 2017.

And Willian believes this is potentially the toughest fixture of the season so far.

“Yes, of course. We know that. We know how they play, we know how dangerous they are. They have great players. They are in a good moment, so we have to be ready,” he added.

Mane backs Keita to become big Anfield star and believes fans should expect more

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane believes Naby Keita will become a big star at Anfield.

The pair struck up a close relationship - Mane describes him as a “brother” - in the brief time they were together at Red Bull Salzburg in 2014 before the Senegal international moved to Southampton.

Mane has since followed Keita’s career closely and feels there is a lot more to come from the £52.75million signing, who has had an indifferent start to his Liverpool career.

“I knew him from a long time ago, from the first time he came to Salzburg and he was the same,” Mane told Press Association Sport.

“At the beginning at Salzburg it was very tough for him but he never stopped working hard.

“He was not playing for a while and he was really positive and after he was the star of the team.

“I am 100 per cent sure he will do incredibly well.”

Keita has scored in back-to-back matches, after 27 previous appearances for the Reds without a goal, and his all-round performances have improved after a stop-start introduction to English football.

“To be honest I think we have more to see from him. At the moment it is going well for him and everyone is very happy for him,” added Mane.

“The real Naby is coming still. He played well the last two games. I know him very well and there is more to come.

“I think goals always give him more confidence. He scored two goals and I think it boosts his confidence.”

Having Mane at the club has helped Keita’s settling-in period but the Senegal international insists the player has worked hard to integrate himself.

“I just talked to him to do what I can but Naby is a big boy so he knows how football can work and sometimes not,” said the forward.

“He knows that so he is very positive and he knows he can do more. I am sure he can do more.

“I’m trying to help him and everyone in the team and the coach as well. “It is not easy to move from Germany to change club, especially as the league is not the same. It is part of the things you have to deal with and he is working hard every single day.

“Off the pitch I am very happy for him, he’s very relaxed.”

Sky pundit 'unsure' if Hazard plays against Liverpool

Paul Merson has carried out his weekly Premier League predictions for Sky Sports.

The pundit believes Liverpool are going to beat Chelsea 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday but he claimed he was ‘unsure’ if the Blues star player Eden Hazard would feature because of the Europa League.

Maurizio Sarri’s side won 1-0 away at Slavia Prague last night and face the Czech side at Stamford Bridge on Thursday in the competition.

Merson wrote:

I’m not sure if Eden Hazard’s going to play as the Europa League is a massive competition for Chelsea. For the manager, winning that competition is bigger for him than getting into the top four - for a manager who’s never won anything before.

This is a big opportunity for [Maurizio] Sarri so it’s a question of what team gets set up for Chelsea. If Chelsea play their full team, and don’t worry about next Thursday, this will be game on - no question about that - but I’m just going to go for Liverpool.

Liverpool are going to get nervous. They’ve not won the league in 29 years, and everyone in the city is talking about it, so there’s bound to be nerves. If they can get this game out of the way, Man City will have to do it the hard way.

PAUL PREDICTS: 2-1

Away from that vile video - here’s a much better one from our very own fans and player.

This was simply sensational from Mohamed Salah and you can enjoy this over and over.

Chelsea star condemns fans and backs Salah after racist chants

A video, which was being circulated on social media on Thursday, involved a handful of men believed to be Chelsea supporters directing vile abuse at Reds star Mohamed Salah .

The men can be seen in a crowded pub, enthusiastically chanting “Salah is a bomber” hours before Maurizio Sarri’s side kicked off against Slavia Prague in their Europa League quarter-final first leg.

Originally shared on Twitter, the video has been retweeted well over 1,000 times with dozens of users condemning the Islamaphobic actions of the supporters in the video.

Chelsea and Liverpool have both condemned the incident with Reds bosses rightly describing the chants as ‘dangerous and disturbing’.

Now Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud has hit out at the supporters who allegedly chanted the racist slogans.

Giroud said after his side’s 1-0 away win at Slavia Prague: “I think these people shouldn’t belong to Chelsea.

“I think the club and everybody condemns these kind of things, and we are 100 per cent behind Mo Salah.

“I think nowadays it shouldn’t happen.”

Chelsea travel to Anfield to play Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.
