A deal between union gospel mission and the city of spokane has stalled, in part because of concerns over the groups lgbt stance.
That deal would have allowed the city to build a stormwater treatment facility....on ugm property.... in exchange they would have given ugm a number of other land parcels in the area.
Our hawk hammer working for you with more on this issue and why its become contentious.
So the contention comes from the terms of the deal.... giving land to ugm... an organzation which helps the homeless.
That land would be given to ugm includes extra property acquired for the mlk roundabout.... dead end streets such as erie and denver between trent and mlk blvd....and others in order to get access to ugm property the city needs.

City council member beggs, says the stormwater facility needed to improve river health, can only be built in august, during low water.
Additioanlly, the city has a million dollar grant to build it, which expires in september.
