Mumbai: The death casualties of March 14 foot over bridge collapse incident near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus railway station rose to seven on Wednesday. A 57-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries at MGM hospital, Vashi. The deceased Nanda Kadam was one of the pedestrian who was injured in the incident when she was on her way to home from Colaba.
“She suffered a fracture on her left leg and injuries to her left foot heel due to slab collapse,” said a doctor. She was admitted to St George hospital for treatment and later her family moved her to MGM hospital as it was close to their resident.
“The doctors there had to implant a metal rod in her left leg due to the extent of injuries. Only last week she underwent surgery for her right foot where doctors had to reconstruct the heel due to loss of flesh,” said Vishwanath Sawant, Kadam’s family friend.
According to the doctors she was supposed to be discharged in few days, but on Wednesday while speaking to her son, she suddenly suffered a massive cardiac arrest after which the doctors could not revive her. The foot over bridge collapsed on March 14 in which six people were killed and 33 others were injured.
