A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, on Friday, pronounce its order on whether the government's electoral bond scheme for political funding is a "policy decision" or not. The Centre said it can't be "faulted" for taking it as it is a policy decision. The Supreme Court reserved the order on a PIL challenging its validity. The bench said it would pronounce its order on Friday on the plea filed by NGO, Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR).
Meanwhile, on Thursday, Election Commission of India sent notices to Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati and UP CM Yogi Adityanath over their speeches delivered in Deoband in Saharanpur on April 7 and 9 respectively. The speeches allegedly violated the Model Code of Conduct. Within 24 hours, both the leaders have been asked to submit their response. Stay tuned here for more political updates from Friday:
