Jaipur, Ambati Rayudu (57 runs off 47 balls) and Chennai skipper MS Dhoni ( 58 runs off 43 balls) helped Chennai Super Kings to register a four wickets win against Rajasthan Royals here at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Thursday. Chasing a target of 151 Chennai openers who known for their batting didn’t do much in the beginning. Shane Watson (0) Faf du Plessis (7 runs) and Suresh Raina (4 runs) were sent to pavilion under four overs.
CSK were in further trouble at 24/4 when Kedar Jadhav was dismissed for 1 as Ben Stokes dived to his left to take a blinder.However, MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu then rescued CSK by putting up 95 runs for the 5th wicket. Both emerged as a ray of hope for their team. Rayudu departed for a well-made 57 off 47. His innings included two fours and three sixes.
After Rayudu dismissal Ravindra Jadeja then joined Dhoni and the duo added 25 runs in 11 balls.All the eyes were on captain cool, but he too walked towards pavilion after he was clean bowled by Benstokes.Later, Mitchell Santner hit a six off the final ball with CSK needing 3 runs.For Rajasthan, Ben Stokes claimed two wickets, while Dhawal Kulkarni, Jaydev Unadkat and Jofra Archer took one wicket each.
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals posted a total of 151/7 in 20 overs against CSK.Put in to bat first by CSK, openers gave RR an average start. Ajinkya Rahane was the first one to get out in the bowling of D Chahar as he scored only 14 runs off 11 balls with 3 fours.
On the other side, Buttler tried to play freely before getting out. He scored 23 runs off 10 balls with 4 fours and one six.After openers departure, RR kept losing wickets in regular intervals and never looked in control.However, some late flourish by Shreyas Gopal and Jofra Archer at the end ensured RR reached 151 for 7 in 20 overs.
