Ambala: 3 held in connection with rape of 17-year-old girl

AMBALA: Police on Thursday arrested three persons, including a woman, in connection with the rape case of 17-year-old girl in Ambala.
On Friday, all the accused were presented before a court which two of them to judicial custody while the other one was sent to one-day police remand.
The survivor had lodged a complaint on April 8 at Ambala women police that a man had raped her between March 30 and April 5 with the help of his aide and her aunt.
Following the complaint, the district police had filed a case against the main accused under Section 4 (punishment for penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The police had also registered saperate case against his aide and the woman who had assisted the accused in the crime under Section 17 (punishment for abetment) of the POCSO Act and 120-B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) to start the investigation.
“All the three accused involved in the crime have been arrested and sent to jail as per the court orders and the accused who was taken on one-day police remand is also sent to jail after recovery of the vehicle used in committing the offence,” Ambala women police station in-charge Sunita said.
