City hosp bags five awards at spine surgeons’ meet in Seoul
Coimbatore: The spine surgery unit of the city-based Ganga Hospitals have won five major awards at the Asia Pacific Spine Society (APSS) meeting held in Seoul in South Korea earlier this week. Attended by top spine surgeons from across Asia and Australia, the event saw them discussing latest advances in the field of spine surgery.

The hospital won the best clinic research award, best clinical paper, basic science research awards, best basic science paper and the APSS-SICOT exchange travelling fellowship 2019. Dr Rajasekaran, chairman of the spine surgery unit, received the awards.


A release from the hospital said they won awards for the work to come up with a novel treatment for complex fractures, which were treated with computer navigation surgery and also basic science proteomics work, which analysed the fetal spine. The objective of the research was to find solutions at molecular levels for regeneration of lumbar disc and reversing degenerative disc disease.
