Three die as minitruck falls into canal in Tamil Nadu

MAYILADUTHURAI: Three men died and 12 others suffered injuries when a minitruck they were travelling on plunged into a canal near Mayiladuthurai in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu on Thursday night.
The accident happened at Anandhanallur when around 20 people were returning after attending an AIADMK meeting at Mangainallur.
The deceased have been identified as Aruldass, 50, Dhanapal, 60, and Vinayagaraja, 40, of Kandhamangalam.
The injured were rushed to Government Hospital in Mayiladuthurai. Three of them were referred to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital.
The Palaiyur police, who registered a case, said they didn’t know who had arranged the minitruck to ferry the people.
