A man has narrowly avoided being crushed to death by several marble slabs falling from a wall in east China

Hair-raising footage on Thursday shows the young man standing outside a store in Huzhou, Zhejiang province when a section of the wall came crashing down from heights and onto the pavement. 

The man later told reporters that he was first hit by a small piece of debris, prompting him to flee from the spot he was standing in.

Thanks to his quick reflexes, the man was not injured in his lucky escape.

A cordon and warning signs were put in place following the incident and workers have been conducting repairs, a local official said.

Many net users have commented on the man's miracle escape on social media.  

'If it were me, I would have looked up to see what was going on - then probably get crushed to death,' one user said on Chinese microblogging site Weibo.

'Amazing reflexes! Very lucky guy,' another said. 

'The relevant departments should properly investigate the incident,' one person said. 'Thank goodness the man is all right.'
