Queensland woman went to search for her dog, hasn't been seen since

An air and land search is underway on the central Queensland coast for a woman who went to search near a local rubbish tip for her missing dog and never returned.

Theresa Dougherty, 45, left her home on Barkles Road in Isis Central, 50 kilometres south-west of Bundaberg, about 1pm on Thursday with two of her dogs.

She told her son she was heading towards a dump which backs onto a forest near the back of her home, to search for one of her other dogs – a great Dane/mastiff cross – that had gone missing.

Police said the dog Ms Dougherty was looking for has since returned home but the two dogs she took with her were still missing.

On Friday, a search and rescue operation was launched, with help from the Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter.

Police and family hold concerns for Ms Dougherty because she has a medical condition and her disappearance is out of character.

Ms Doughterty is Caucasian with a proportionate build, brown hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a pink blouse and shorts.

Anyone with information should call Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
