PUNE: A 30-year-old woman attacked her husband with a kitchen knife in Dhayari on Tuesday night because he asked why she was talking over cellphone and tried to snatch her handset to check the call list.
The Sinhagad Road police on Thursday registered an offence against the woman under Section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code. After discussing the issue with his relatives, the 33-year-old man on Thursday lodged an FIR against his wife, said assistant inspector H M Nanaware.
The victim works as a driver with a private company in Baner. When he returned home from work around 9pm on Tuesday, he found his wife talking on her phone. When he objected to it and tried to take her cellphone to check the call list, the furious woman attempted to slit his throat with the knife. She also attacked him on his left wrist and ribs.
The man is married for the past 12 years and has two children. He suspected his wife of infidelity. “They had a brawl over this issue,” the officer said.
