Western Sydney University fellowships for Kerala Agricultural University students

The Western Sydney University (WSU) will provide fellowships for Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) students interested in dual PhD programme of KAU students and proposed partial fee waiver for those pursuing masters degree in WSU.

This was revealed by Lynda Taylor, Pro Vice-Chancellor and. Nisha Rakesh, Research Development Advisor in an interactive programme held at KAU.

Lynda Taylor explained the details of various opportunities for the students and the faculties at WSU. Two programmes viz., the joint Masters & PhD and dual PhD can be taken up by KAU students, she said. Ph D student could complete the course work in KAU within 18 months and the research work in WSU (remaining 18 months) for which the WSU fellowship would be given. For the master’s programme, fee waiver to the extent of 25 per cent for KAU students has been proposed. The meritorious students doing Masters course at WSU under this programme would also get the preferential treatment in the higher studies in WSU with fellowship.

Vice Chancellor R. Chandra Babu introduced the collaborative programme to Academia, students and PhD scholars. The programme should be implemented in a time bound manner so that the KAU students could get the chance to join at the WSU in this academic year itself, he said. The visiting delegation initiated the process by inviting the biodata of interested students and work out the plan on a case by case basis.
