Man booked in dowry case for wife’s death
Ghaziabad: The husband and three in-laws of a 27-year-old woman have been booked in connection with her death. Police said they had lodged an FIR following a court order on Tuesday.

The accused have been identified as Sonu Mishra, his father Baccha Prasad, uncle Sujeet Mishra and aunt Preeti. Parents of the woman, Sushma, accused her in-laws of killing her as they failed to fulfil their dowry demand. They alleged that Sushma’s in-laws had dumped her body along the road to make it look like an accident.

According to the FIR, Sushma had married Sonu in Bihar on March 7, 2014. Her in-laws were apparently given Rs 5 lakh in cash, jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh and house items worth Rs 5 lakh.

“In the first few months of marriage, my son in law demanded a bike and when his demand was not met, Sushma was beaten up. After this, Sushma tried to kill herself. I spoke to her and tried to solve the problem by giving a bike,” Pushpa, the woman’s mother said.

On January 1, 2018, Sonu called up Sushma’s brother Pankaj and told him that the woman was killed in an accident in Sihani Gate.
