The AMMK leader promises to fight for special category status for Puducherry

Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) deputy general secretary T.T.V Dhinakaran said development of the Union Territory was ‘derailed by the rule of two samis’ (former Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and Chief Minister V. Narayansamy)

Exhorting people of Puducherry to vote for change, Mr. Dhinakaran said rule by two ‘samis’ had derailed development and brought administrative paralysis in the Union Territory.

Campaigning for the AMMK candidate for Lok Sabha polls N. Tamizh Marane and nominee for Thattanchavady bypoll N. Murugasamy, he said Mr. Narayanasamy could have got Statehood for the U.T. while he was a Union Minister during the United Progressive Alliance government.

The feud between Mr. Narayanasamy as Union Minister and the then Chief Minister Mr. Rangasamy had affected the development of U.T., he said.

Mr. Rangasamy had now become the stumbling block for development of U.T. He was taking revenge on the Chief Minister by aligning with Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi and the BJP government at the Centre. The former Chief Minister was blocking funds duly available from the Union government for the Union Territory, he said.

The voters should ignore the Congress and the AINRC as both have failed to address the problems faced by the people. The AMMK leader also promised to fight for Special Category Status for Puducherry, he said.

Mr. Dhinakaran accompanied by party workers conducted a road show in several parts of the town.
