District Collector Shilpa Prabhakar Satish participated in a voter awareness bike rally organised here on Friday by the Tamil Nadu Revenue Officials’ Association for ensuring cent per cent polling in the Lok Sahba election scheduled for April 18.
After distributing election awareness pamphlets to the public who came to the Collectorate, Ms. Shilpa rode pillion even as tahsildar (Media Certification and Monitoring Committee) Vimala Rani drove the two-wheeler.
The bike rally went through Vannarpet bus-stop, Palayamkottai Market, Samathanapuram, District Police Office, South Bazaar, Government Siddha Medical College, Murugankurichi and back to Vannarpet.
On seeing a large number of passengers waiting for buses, Ms. Shilpa got down from the bike and distributed the election awareness pamphlets to the commuters and asked them to cast their votes without fail.
She also urged the public to call ‘1950’ to inform or alert the officials about election model code of conduct violations, if any, in their areas.
Assistant Collector (Trainee) N. O. Sukaputra, District Revenue Officer B. Muthuramalingam, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency A. Palani and others participated in the rally.
