All India Congress Committee secretary Sanjay Dutt on Thursday questioned the silence of founder-leader of All India N.R. Congress N. Rangasamy on the candidature of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister of the country.
Addressing mediapersons here, he said the AINRC chief had not uttered a word about Mr. Modi or about the work done by the BJP government during the last five years.
Stating that the Opposition camp was in “disarray” in the U.T., he said Mr. Rangasamy was not taking BJP leaders during his visits to the constituencies, especially those having a presence of minority communities.
Questioning the AINRC candidate’s credentials, he said the Opposition candidate had not spoken once on a public platform during the entire campaign period.
“It is only Rangasamy who is speaking as if he is the candidate. If the candidate cannot address the public, how is he going to speak inside the Parliament? Rangasamy cannot go speak in the Parliament,” he said.
The people’s mood
AINRC was forced to deny ticket to its sitting member, after it gauged the public mood against the MP. In the last five years, the MP was missing from the constituency and the Parliament, he said. Criticising the AINRC chief for his remark that there would be a change of guard in the U.T. after the Lok Sabha polls, Mr. Dutt said the statement showed the anti-democratic mindset of Mr. Rangasamy.
“People have given the mandate for the Congress for five years. Is he planning to do something like Mr. Modi tried in Karnataka? The AINRC chief is only concerned about the Chief Minister’s post,” he added.
