S. Rehabanu, wife of Sadiq Basha, an associate of former Union Minister A. Raja who committed suicide few years ago, has sent a representation to President Ram Nath Kovind, with a copy to the Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), seeking re-investigation of the factors behind the death of her husband.
She said in her representation that in 2003, Sadiq Basha started a company that was into real estate business; as it was doing well, former union minister A. Raja became interested in it and persuaded Basha to accept investments from the former Minister’s wife Parameshwari, his brother A. Ramachandran and nephew R.P. Paramesh Kumar. They also became directors. She alleged that her husband was later sidelined fromthis company.
The 2G scam broke out in 2010 and her husband was investigated by the CBI since he was presumed to be a close associate of Mr. Raja. During the course of investigation, there was severe pressure on him from some quarters by way of threats. He died on March 16, 2011 under suspicious circumstances, she alleged.
Following the publication of a memorial advertisement in newspaper, she alleged that she and her brother were attacked on 19 March. While they were travelling in a car near Pallikaranai some unidentified persons threw knives and stones at the car, she said, in the representation.
