Transporters association from Mumbai extends support to BJP in polls

MUMBAI: The largest body of transporters in the state - Bombay Goods Transport Association (BGTA) in its meeting held on Friday decided to support the candidates of BJP-Shivsena-RPI Coalition and appealed for the same to its members.

BGTA president Ashok Rajguru said “The transport community is very large and in Maharashtra alone there are about 35 lakh commercial vehicles.


Even if on an average 5 people are associated per vehicle, then the number goes up to about 1.75 crore population associated with this sector, which is about 15% of 11.6 crore Maharashtra population."


Bal Malkit Singh of All India Motor Transport Congress said, "The transport community of Maharashtra is set to play an important role on the outcome of Lok Sabha elections."
