Share market update: Nifty Financial Services index up; REC gains nearly 2%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Financial Services index was up with its components trading on a mixed note in Friday's afternoon session.

Shares of HDFC Life Insurance Company (up 2.12 per cent), REC (up 1.81 per cent), Sundaram Finance (up 1.63 per cent) and Power Finance Corporation (up 1.51 per cent) were the top performers in the index.

Edelweiss Financial Services (down 2.97 per cent), Indiabulls Ventures (down 2.90 per cent), Indiabulls Housing Finance (down 1.21 per cent) and Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company (down 0.86 per cent) were trading with losses.

The Nifty Financial Services index was trading 0.28 per cent up at 12,484.35 around 02:13 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 36.70 points at 11,633.40 while the BSE Sensex was up 138.07 points at 38,745.08.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 25 were in the red.

Shares of BHEL, Vodafone Idea, DLF, YES Bank, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, ITC, SAIL, Indian Oil Corp, SBI, Bank of Baroda, GAIL, Bharti Airtel, Vedanta, Infosys, NTPC, Hindalco Inds., ICICI Bank, RIL and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
