Nine killed in two road mishaps in Andhra Pradesh

TIRUPATI: Nine persons were killed and several others got injured in two separate road accidents in Anantapur and Kurnool districts on Friday morning.
In the first incident, a speeding truck rammed head-on into a mini pick-up van near national highway no. 42 at Parakuvandlapalle cross in Tanakallu mandal in Anantapur district early on Friday. While five persons were killed on the spot, two others died before being moved to the hospital. Nine others, who sustained grievous wounds, were shifted to the nearby government hospital for treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Katepalli Dastagiri (50), Kahader Basha (35), Siva Nagesh (30), D Parvathamma (42) of Tanakallu mandal and Peddapalli Munna (50), Jayamma (35) and Ramachandra Reddy (42) of NP Kunta mandal. Tanakallu cops have registered a case.
Meanwhile, two family members were killed in a road accident near the national highway at Halaharvi village close to Nandavaram in Kurnool district on Friday morning. A speeding car hit a stationary oil tanker from behind leaving two dead on the spot.
The deceased were identified as Mehboob Basha and his 1.5-year-old son Ayan Shafi who hail from Yemmiganur.
