Accompanied with heavy winds and thunder some parts of Dakshina Kannada received good rainfall early on Thursday.
Reports reaching here said that Shishila, Markanja, Yenmur, Kollamogaru, Madappady, Kenya, Ujire, Bellare, Vadya, Kabaka, Mani, Mittur, Uruvalu areas were soaked with rain between 1.30 a.m. and 6 a.m.
A small tree fell on the National Highway at Mittur between Mani and Puttur early in the morning. However, it was cleared later.
Meanwhile, major rivers in the district are drying up with inflow almost coming to a halt.
Cloudy weather prevailed in the city on Thursday. According to India Meteorological Department, it is likely to continue so on Friday also.
The IMD said that some parts of Dakshina Kannada is “very likely” to get rainfall till April 16.
