Stating that the April 10 meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi held in Goa was mainly organised for the workers and supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and hence the alliance partners of the government were not invited for the same, state BJP president Vinay Tendulkar on Thursday said that however these alliance partners have already been requested to join the campaign of Lok Sabha as well as by-poll candidates of the BJP.

Speaking to ‘The Navhind Times’, the state BJP president said that as per the request of the BJP, the leaders of the Goa Forward Party as well as the Independent legislators supporting the state government would campaign for BJP’s North and South Goa candidates and those contesting the three bypolls.

Tendulkar said that Union minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadanvis would be canvassing for the BJP candidates, during the final phase of the April 23 election campaign in Goa.

“Union Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh is also expected to participate in the campaign here, but he is yet to confirm about the same,”
he added.
