Voter awareness couple with brand promotion is what a sweetshop is going to do on the election day. Suruchi Foods, which makes the popular sweet ‘kaja’, has come out with an offer to the voters from Tapeswaram village in East Godavari district. Those who cast their vote without fail can relish a ‘kaja’ free of cost, besides having a tumbler-full of buttermilk. A village with a population of about 8,000, Tapeswaram is known for making traditional sweets and pickles on large-scale. The village became a brand name for sweets like ‘kaja’ and ‘pootharekulu’ and Suruchi Foods is one such sweets vendor with several branches. “Some of our villagers are staying away from polling without any valid reason. Since each vote is important, we have come out with this idea and arranged a special stall in the village to distribute the sweets and buttermilk,” says P. Malli Babu, proprietor of the sweetshops chain.
