Ludhiana: Shortly after bonhomie had developed between Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu and Congress MLA Rakesh Pandey, there were rumours again of a rift between the two, which started spreading on Tuesday on social media. Some messages were shared by people that after being ignored once again, Pandey was going to leave the Congress and join Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). But in an attempt to dismiss all the rumours, Bittu went to Pandey’s house on Wednesday and had breakfast with him and his family members. After this, Bittu and Pandey’s pictures having breakfast together went viral on social media, thereby laying rest to all the gossip of Pandey joining SAD.
Clearing the air on the issue, Bittu said: “Today’s meeting was just a courtesy meeting with Pandey, who is one of the seniormost leaders in Punjab today. However, after seeing the wave of voters in our favour, some people had taken to spreading rumours at the behest of our rivals, who just want that there should be miscommunication between me and Pandey, but they will never succeed in such conspiracies.”
Meanwhile, speaking to TOI, Pandey said: “Everything is all right between me and Bittu, and it was just his routine visit to my home, as we were planning to have a meal together since a long time. As far as the report of me leaving Congress for SAD are concerned, it’s rubbish, and if opposition parties think that by spreading this rumour, they will be able to affect the prospects of Congress in the coming Lok Sabha elections, they are under a wrong impression.”
