Trial to begin in case of man accused of murdering ex\'s new boyfriend

A jury heard opening statements today... In the case of a south spokane murder..

That happened 2 and a half years ago.

According to court documents... Bob tester was bludgeoned and stabbed repeatedly..

In his home in the early hours of september sixth of 2016.

His eight year old daughter was in bed next to him..

And told investigators she woke up to hear her father screaming.

John arthur radavich was arrested..

The following january.

In his opening statement... John radavch's defense attorney says he doesn't plan to argue the big picture..

Describing bob tester's death... As a fight..

That radavich ended..

In self-defense.

The state says- this is premeditated murder..

Simple as that..

And offers several witnesses to make their case.

One of those witnesses..

Is a friend of john radavichs..

Who got a call form him..

On christmas of 2016.

The friend recorded that call..

And the jury heard it in court today.

Radavich is heard saying he had "had enough" Of alleged abuse..

By tester..

Toward radavich's ex girlfriend..

And that he "removed him from the equation."

The state maintains that is evidence of a formulated plan.

But radavich's defense says..

This was not murder..

That radavich was only reacting to defend himself.
