Gurgaon: The shootout near Rockland hospital in IMT Manesar was well planned and the attackers were aware of the victim’s plan to visit his ailing brother there, preliminary investigation has revealed. According to CCTV footage, police said, the six shooters arrived early at the hospital’s entry gate in two Scorpio cars and waited for the target.
On Tuesday, Ved Yadav, who has a criminal background, was shot in his hand as six men opened fire on him near Rockland hospital. He was then admitted to the hospital for treatment, and discharged on Wednesday. In his statement to police, he did not blame anyone but cops suspect that the attack was over a property dispute.
“The attackers parked their cars near the hospital’s entry gate and then one car went towards the exit gate so that both sides were covered. When they spotted Yadav in his Fortuner car, one of the attackers ran towards him and started firing. Yadav tried to drive away but was shot in his hand. He lost control of his car and rammed into an electric pole but his aides covered him and took him to another car,” said a senior investigating official.
Police are trying to identify the accused, using CCTV footage. Sources claimed it was also shown to Ved Yadav to check if he could identify anyone. Based on his complaint, an FIR was registered against the unidentified accused under sections 307 (murder attempt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 34 (common intention) of IPC and sections 25-54-59 of the Arms Act at the IMT, industrial police station, Manesar.
Police are interrogating eye-witnesses to recreate sequence of events and probing Yadav’s criminal past. They are silent on the gang war angle but ACP (Manesar) Rajender Singh Dalal said “the picture will be clear soon” .
