Under a tourism digital plan an estimated 1.95 million U.S. dollars will be invested to further develop the tourism industry and improve Sri Lanka’s security image globally after a proposal by Minister of Tourism Development, Wildlife and Christian Religious Affairs, John Amaratunga.
Until the end of 2020 the digital Plan will be conducted under Public Private Partnership basis.
The investment will be mainly focused on five high tourism arrival markets China, India, Britain, Germany and France as per the tourism ministry.
By the end of 2020 another objective of the program is to increase the average spending of tourists per day to 210 dollars and increase the employment within the tourism industry to reach 600,000.
There will be additional increase in security for the tourists travelling to Sri Lanka that will be responsible for more joint synergies among airlines flying to Sri Lanka.
By the end of the year Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is targeting 3 million tourists and aims at generating a revenue of 5 billion dollars this year.
