Two men have been arrested, while a juvenile was apprehended for allegedly killing a person in Shahdara’s Krishna Nagar over business rivalry, the police said on Wednesday.
The accused have been identified as Rizwan (26), a resident of Krishna Nagar and Mohsin (34), a resident of Loni, Ghaziabad. A 16-year-old boy was apprehended and later it was revealed that the juvenile was also involved in another murder case, they said.
The police received a tip-off that on Tuesday Rizwan would come to meet his acoomplices around 7 p.m. near Mayo International School, Patparganj, they said.
Thereafter, a trap was laid and Rizwan, Mohsin and the juvenile were apprehended, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajiv Ranjan said.
The accused have confessed to having been involved in the murder of one Sarfaraz in Krishna Nagar. Further interrogation revealed that the juvenile had also been involved in another murder case in New Usmanpur, Mr. Ranjan said.
During interrogation, it was also revealed that Sarfaraj and his brother Mehraj were scarp dealers at Krishna Nagar, Mr. Ranjan said. The brothers had rivalry with one Zafar, also a scrap dealer. Zafar was killed in October 2017 over this business rivalry and Mehraj had been arrested. Sarfaraj had been threatening Abrar who was the witness in the case.
Thereafter, Abrar, along with Salman, Rizwaan and the juvenile, hatched a plan to kill Sarfaraj, Mr. Ranjan added. On Friday evening when Sarfaraj was returning home, Abrar, along with his accomplices, chased him. When Sarfaraj reached near Kanti Nagar, Rizwaan fired at him due to which he fell from his bike and later Abrar and Rizwan also shot at him and fled the spot, Mr. Ranjan also said.
Previous involvement
The juvenile in the current case had been involved in the murder of one Hakimuddin that took place on March 31. The victim was the elder brother of Moinuddin and Shahjad who were lodged in jail for attacking one Nazim.
Mukeem, Nazim’s brother, had sustained bullet injuries but survived, while neighbour Salman succumbed to bullet injuries during the attack on Nazim, the police said.
Hakimuddin was eliminated by Nazim’s brother Munna, the juvenile in the current Krishna Nagar case and other accomplices to avenge the said attack.
Two pistols, seven live cartridges and two bikes had been seized from their possession, the police added.
