No poll surveys from Thursday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The election commission has banned the telecasting or publishing of any kind of opinion polls and exit polls by print or electronic media from 7am on April 11.
The ban will be in force till 6pm on May 19. The commission imposed the ban on the basis of Section 126 A of the Representation of People’s Act, 1951. According to the section, ‘no person shall conduct any exit poll and publish or publicise by means of the print or electronic media or disseminate in any other manner, whatsoever, the result of any exit poll during such period, as may be notified by the Election Commission in this regard’.
