A 70-year-old man died after he was allegedly pushed by a collection agent of a firm in Tukoganj area on Wednesday night. The elderly person was asking for money when he had an altercation with accused. The police have detained a person and further investigation is underway.
Tukoganj police station incharge Tehzeeb Kazi said incident took place near Malwa Mills Square at 8.30 pm. Deceased identified as Nanakram Dhawan, a resident of Pancham Ki Phel, was talking to collection agent named Dashrath when they had an argument and Dhashrath pushed him away due to which he received injury. He was later rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.
Police said exact reason of death would be known only after autopsy report. After the statements of family members, police have detained Dashrath. Police said Nanakram had invested around Rs 4 lakh in Janswasth Sahakari Sanstha in Nehru Nagar where Dashrath is a collection agent. Nanakram was asking for his money when he had an argument with Dashrath. Family members of Nanakram said he was a social worker. He was searching for Dashrath for many days. On Wednesday, he came to know that Dashrath had come to Malwa Mills Square for some work after which he had gone to talk to him.
