Hume Freeway reopens

All lanes have reopened on the Hume Freeway after the earlier closure on an outbound lane near O'Herns Road due to a car crash.

Southern Cross Station

Two escalators are still down at the Collins Street entrance of Southern Cross Station.

Metro has advised commuters using platforms nine and 10 to use the Bourke Street end of the station, as just one escalator at Collins Street is working.

Yesterday, trains starting skipping the station because the broken escalators led to congestion on the platforms.

Tram congestion

Trams are under pressure while the Metro consutruction blitz causes #TrainPain across the transport network.

Commuters should allow extra travel time, especially during rush hour, Yarra Trams says, while the trams experience high demand.

Monash Freeway

The vehicle blocking a citybound lane on the Monash Freeway has been pushed onto the grassed median area to clear traffic before being towed.

A car crash earlier had blocked the right emergency lane between Wellington and Springvale roads.

#TrainPain congestion

Replacement buses are clogging traffic on Batman Avenue and causing delays in rush hour.

VicTraffic has urged motorists to consider alternatives to head into the CBD, including Kings Way, City Road onto Queensbridge Street, or Punt Road and Wellington Parade.

Monash Freeway

A citybound lane on the Monash Freeway has been blocked by a collision.

Emergency services are arriving to the crash in the right emergency lane between Wellington and Springvale roads.

Morrison on the move

The prime minister has left The Lodge and is on his way to Government House to ask Governor-General Peter Cosgrove to dissolve Parliament and issue the writs for an election on May 18, according to Canberra Bureau Chief Bevan Shields.
