TENNIS: Undefeated Connolly boys edge Westport; Tiverton post big win over N.K.

A doubles sweep gave shorthanded Bishop Connolly a 3-2 Mayflower Athletic Conference Comprehensive boys' tennis win over Westport on Thursday at Bishop Connolly High School.

The host Cougars (4-0) forfeited at third singles.

Christopher Mulvey provided Connolly's with its singles point by downing Brendan Martin 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2.

The first doubles team of John Rego and Luc Domagala topped Roberto Ferreira and Smit Patel 6-3, 7-5. At second doubles, Samuel Corey and Liam Marshall defeated Danny Swain and James McMahon 6-1, 6-2.

Westport's Evan Kidd defeated Samuel DeCosta 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.

Tiverton 5, North Kingstown 2: At Tiverton, the Tigers (3-1) swept singles for this Rhode Island Division II win.

Josh Dore (6-4, 6-4), Matt Gacioch (6-1, 4-6, 6-2), Will Brigham (6-3, 6-3) and Carson Hart (6-2, 5-7, 6-3) all won at singles.

Tiverton's doubles point came from Chad Carreiro/Harshil Patel, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (3), 7-5 (tiebreaker) at No. 2.

Taunton 5, Durfee 0: At Durfee, the host Hilltoppers' Baron Snizek, a senior, put up a fierce battle at third singles before falling 7-6 (7), 6-3.

Durfee is 1-5.

GIRLS' TENNIS

Westport 5, Bishop Connolly 0: At the Diane B. Snyder Tennis Complex in Westport, undefeated Annie MacMaster (6-0, 6-0), Gabby Machairas (6-4, 6-1 over Shelby Hibbert) and Kaelyn Jones (6-0, 6-1) gave the Wildcats (5-1) the singles sweep in this Mayflower Athletic Conference Comprehensive win.

In doubles, Emily McMahon/Brianna Quinlan won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. No. 2 doubles was very competitive as Sam Parker/Bella Glennon battled past Maya Pontes/Katelyn Fernandes 6-4, 4-6, 10-4.

Taunton 5, Durfee 0: At Taunton, Coryne Rodrigues made her varsity debut, teaming with Charlene Duong in a 6-1, 6-3 loss at No. 2 doubles. The Hilltoppers are 0-2.
