Chevrolet Dealer Employee Being Investigated For Kidnapping And Stealing $200k

A Chevrolet salesman from the Mountain View Chevrolet dealership in Chattanooga, Tennessee is being investigated for kidnapping a disabled customer and stealing almost $200,000.

Auto News has revealed that police are investigating Daniel Bryant. A recent affidavit by Chattanooga Police Officer Matthew Hennessee from an FBI task force is seeking a warrant to seize the bank account of Bryant.

As the investigation is still ongoing, the Chattanooga Police Department can’t provide details.

However, the affidavit reveals that local police were called to a Chattanooga bank last Thursday following a report of a kidnapping. The disabled man who filed the report is paralyzed on one side and has had a leg amputated. He told officers that on Monday, April 1, he had been taken against his will by Bryant and forced to withdraw thousands of dollars from his bank account.

The man asserts that he recently purchased a pickup truck from the Mountain View Chevrolet dealership after receiving a financial settlement from the work accident that left him partially paralyzed. Bryant allegedly held the victim against his will over the course of two days and took out nearly $200,000 in cash and cashier’s checks.

In a statement, the dealership said Bryant has been fired.

“Management at Mtn. View Chevrolet is aware of the investigation being conducted by the FBI into one of our former employees, Daniel Bryant.

“The dealership was not involved in, or even aware of, any alleged attempt on the part of Mr. Bryant to defraud a customer of our business. Mr. Bryant is no longer employed by Mtn. View Chevrolet, and we continue to work with the authorities to assist in resolving this matter.”
