Dominican police identify body of missing American

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Authorities in the Dominican Republic told a Santo Domingo news conference on Wednesday (April 10) that they have identified the body of an American woman who went missing in the Caribbean nation in late March.

The body of Portia Ravanelle was identified using a fingerprint match.

She had been on holiday in the Dominican Republic with her boyfriend Orlando Moore and was due to return to the U.S.A.

On March 27.

The pair never made it to their flight.

Police spokesperson, Frank Felix Duran, told media that evidence suggests the U.S. citizens were victims of a car accident from a rental vehicle the pair were driving to the airport.

Ravanelle's body was found on a highway on March 27 and taken to hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Authorities are still working to identify a male body that was retrieved from the Caribbean that resembles Moore.

The rental car the couple had used on their holiday is reportedly still underwater, with investigators working to bring it back to the surface.
