AU to commence UG admissions from April 12

ALLAHABAD: Authorities of Allahabad University would be starting the process for admission for undergraduate courses for academic session 2019-20 from April 12. For the first time, AU authorities have removed the concept of negative marking from in the entrance test.
Talking to media, on Thursday, director admission, Prof Manmohan Krishna informed that the applications for admission to any of the UG courses on the campus starts at 4:00am of April 12. Students can apply for the same till May 3. "Entrance exam for all UG courses would be held between May 27-29 and the results would be announced between June 10-15", said the director.
"Since we have the provision of cutoff marks in the entrance test for both general and reserved category, in both the UG and PG courses, we have removed the concept of negative marking", said the director. The entrance test would be of 300 marks for which aspirants would be given 150 minutes, he added.
The detail programme of the exams for postgraduate and combined research entrance test (CRET) would be announced later.
"Applications for all the UG courses would be invited only through the online mode while the entrance test would be conducted through offline mode. However, entrance test for unprofessional courses of PG level, the entrance test would be held by both online and offline mode whereas that for the professional courses, entrance test would be held only through online mode", he said. All details, pertaining to entrance of these courses would be available on online mode only.
Constituent colleges of AU would be conducting their admissions, for both UG and PG courses and in PhD at their respective colleges during June 15 to July 15.
"AU authorities have enhanced the 10% seats for economically backward category in almost all the courses, both at UG and PG level", said the director.
